The event was attended by water professionals, decision-makers, stakeholders, water utility operators and suppliers, and the management of the Pureco Group, the chairmanship of the Hungarian Water Partnership.
During the three-day event, Pureco's management took part in several business meetings, showcasing our products, technologies and services that can effectively respond to the region's water challenges. A particular focus was on the regenerable adsorbent-based arsenic removal technology developed by the Pureco Group and several bilateral discussions were held with several regional water utilities.
At the international workshop "Circular Economy", co-organised during EXPOAPA by the International Water Association (IWA) Statistics and Economics Working Group, Dr Károly Kovács PhD (oec), CEO of Pureco and President of HWP, delivered a presentation. In his presentation, he highlighted the challenges of integrating water management and water-related infrastructure development into the circular economy. He described the role of water in the circular economy, the results of the Hungarian Circular Economy Platform, the role of the life-cycle approach in building a circular economy, and illustrated the results of valuing water as an asset through good examples.
In his presentation, he pointed out that water is the basis for effective climate adaptation and a central element of the circular/green economy. He stressed the need to value our water as an asset, to rethink water use patterns with a life-cycle focus (recycling/water-smart technologies/alternative water sources/storage/water markets), to build the foundation for digital water management, to harmonise green and grey infrastructure. He stressed that knowledge sharing, such as this international event, has a key role to play in facilitating all this.
