Pureco installed in an open ditch 14 ENVIA® TRP oil trap devices with a total performance of 1 485 l/s along the main road ‘8’ between Veszprém and Marko to clean the polluted run-off storm water.  Due to the growth of road traffic and road networks a significant and increasing amount of dense gaseous, liquid and solid pollutants - including harmful heavy metals – are polluting the environment and contaminate the precipitation running off the roads. Some of the contaminants are fuel residues, i.e. unburned fuel, to varying degrees burned fuel residue, materials used as additives, combustion end products, lubricating oils and various greases. Other contaminants are remains derived from the operation of the motor vehicle’s worn parts and friction. These primarily contain metallic components. Heavy metals are washed off into our surface and ground waters by precipitation falling on the road’s surface thus harmfully affecting our health through damaging plants and vegetables cultivated along the motorways and roads. The pollutant retention in run-off rainwaters and storm water pre-treatment along road infrastructures is absolutely crucial. Future storm water management and its challenges need to be taken into account already during the design phase of our urban and road infrastructures.   Main road 8 stretches from Székesfehérvár to Szentgotthárd, all the way to the Hungarian-Austrian border. The road development on its approximately 190 km long section in Veszprém county is an ongoing and in several instalments realized project.  The development and expansion of road 8 between Veszprém and Marko especially affects the protected Bakonyi Karst, thus during the development project the protection of the region’s underground waters had to be handled with the outmost care. In order to achieve the best results Pureco was contracted to install in an open ditch 14 ENVIA® TRP oil trap devices with a total performance of 1 485 l/s along the above mentioned section of the road to clean the polluted run-off storm water.  The ENVIA TRP equipment can be installed along the road infrastructures (roads, highways, railway tracks, parking lots) in open-faced storm water drains, ditches, even within the settlements to protect the surface waters – rivers, lakes and creeks, ground waters and geological mediums from pollutants contaminating run-off storm waters. The installation of our innovative, cost-efficient and long-life product is quick and easy. Its operation is efficient and it is simple and easy to maintain and to clean.
