Enclosed drainage channel made of GRP

As part of a large-scale industrial development, specialists are currently working on the construction of a new route for a creek. In the future, the affected section of the watercourse will run through an enclosed drainage channel, for which we supplied the large-diameter GRP (Glass Reinforced Plastic) pipes.

All pipe components required for the construction of the creek’s new enclosed route have already been delivered to the construction site. The new section will consist of 1,600 mm diameter GRP pipes installed over a total length of 486 metres.

When selecting the pipe system, long-term operational reliability, adequate hydraulic capacity and resistance to significant external loads were all key considerations. The glass-fibre reinforcement provides high strength and load-bearing capacity, while the relatively low weight of the pipes makes transportation and on-site installation easier.

Their corrosion- and abrasion-resistant design, combined with a long service life, makes this type of pipe particularly suitable for drainage systems and industrial applications.

Construction is progressing at full speed, with the large-diameter GRP pipe sections continuously being lifted into position, joined together and installed section by section to form the enclosed creek channel.
