The effects of global climate change have a significant impact on the hydrological cycle. Recent IPCC (Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change) reports show that precipitation patterns are changing, with increasing and decreasing trends compared to conventional models, posing different hydrological challenges at regional scales. For example, intense rainfall in August shows the problem of uneven rainfall distribution.
In urban areas, built-up areas and pavements significantly increase stormwater runoff, reducing the natural water retention capacity. Urban sewer systems often treat stormwater and wastewater together, which can lead to overloading of treatment systems, especially during heavy rainfall.
In response to these challenges, Pureco has developed a new infiltration system, the PureBOX®. Instead of the previous systems supplied by Western Europe, Pureco decided to develop its in-house system in the spirit of sustainability and the circular economy.
Developed over two years, the PureBOX® system is a highly effective solution for managing stormwater sources and promoting environmental sustainability.
A key element of the system is that it has a significant benefit on the soil's natural infiltration capacity, reduces run-off and supports groundwater recharge.
PureBOX® is made from 100% regranulated PP, which reduces carbon dioxide emissions by 57-71% compared to conventional materials.
A further important advantage is that 100% green energy is used in the manufacturing process, and thanks to production in Hungary, the transport distance is also significantly reduced.
The system is available in heights from 20 to 120 cm, in modular steps of 10 cm. It can be used in areas with high water levels and root zone irrigation systems.
The robust design of PureBOX® provides excellent load capacity and 94% storage volume, which optimises stormwater management.
Thanks to PureBOX's integrated connection system, installation is faster and easier as the elements are connected in layers (6 connection points for a 60 cm block).
