Names of funding agencies: Ministry of Culture and Innovation (KIM), National Research, Development and Innovation Office (NKFIH), Bay Zoltán Applied Research Public Benefit Nonprofit Ltd.

Name of beneficiary company: Pureco Idea Kft

Exact title of the project: “Development of a Rainwater Treatment System”

Amount of contracted funding: 73,978,425 HUF

Project Overview: As exhaust emissions from road traffic decrease, “non-exhaust” particulate emissions are contributing an increasingly large share to environmental particulate pollution and are putting pressure on both air and water quality. According to EU data, by 2023, the non-exhaust fraction already accounted for the vast majority of road PM10/PM2.5 emissions, and this share is expected to continue to grow in the future. Regional and national monitoring programs have documented for several decades that metals associated with traffic are regularly detected in highway runoff; concentrations are strongly influenced by local traffic, precipitation intensity, and the hydraulics of the sampling site. Roadside ditches and ditches serve as important transit or temporary reservoirs for pollutants and are critical in terms of leaching or migration into the surrounding groundwater system. The primary objective of the project is to successfully develop an improved version of the current sludge and oil trap technology.
