ATEV Zrt.'s plant in Hódmezővásárhely produces animal by-products allowed to be used for feeding.
As a first step in modernising the factory, the treatment of process and other wastewater from production, condensate and whey was modernised.
In January 2025, the new industrial wastewater treatment plant with a hydraulic capacity of 450 cubic metres per day was inaugurated, with Pureco Ltd. as the main contractor. Pureco was responsible for the overall design, project management, mechanical and control engineering, design and construction of the electrical network and building electricity, and the constructed plant's trial operation.
The existing biological treatment has been upgraded to membrane bioreactor (MBR) technology, with improvements to the mechanical pre-treatment stage, the biological stage (existing and new) and sludge treatment.
The advantage of the membrane technology, built in close cooperation with ATEV Zrt, is that it combines ultrafiltration with sludge biological reactors. The higher sludge concentration ensures efficient degradation, while ultrafine filtration provides excellent phase separation while requiring less space.
The efficiency of the technology is indicated by a chemical oxygen demand (COD) and a 95% removal efficiency of total nitrogen (TN). Operational and accredited tests during the trial operation have confirmed that the discharge limits to the public sewer as specified in the permit are met.
The technological innovation and efficiency of the current investment is an excellent contribution to ATEV Zrt.'s sustainability efforts.
