The African Water and Sanitation Association (AfWASA) Strategic and Technical Council (STC) met in Uganda to discuss cutting-edge solutions for achieving UN Sustainable Development Goal 6 (clean water and sanitation).
The meeting also set the stage for the 2025 AfWASA Congress in Kampala.
Dr. Károly Kovács, a member of AfWASA’s STC, showcased Hungarian innovations recognized by the UN, such as Septopure®, which treats faecal sludge, and PurAID®, which provides drinking water in underserved areas. These technologies have already improved millions of lives in Ghana.
Short films demonstrated their impact during the plenary session.
Dr. Kovács also contributed to thematic discussions on water quality, financing, and rural water solutions. The upcoming Water and Sanitation for All Congress in February 2025 will feature over 3,000 participants, including the Hungarian Water Partnership (HWP), presenting sustainable water infrastructure solutions and hosting a dedicated side event.
