Planet success

We had a busy and productive week at the Planet 2023 Sustainability Exhibition in Budapest between 27 September – 1 October 2023. We were exhibitors in the water section of the Expo and welcomed professional and public visitors and students to this extraordinary event.

During the event, we held dozens of very important business meetings with our partners to further deepen our cooperation, introduce ourselves to new partners and successfully negotiate future project opportunities.

At the expo on sustainability and green innovation, representatives of companies at the forefront of environmental goals and concrete solutions were given the opportunity to present their solutions to their business partners and the public.

Pureco welcomed visitors at stand 2a. The focus of our presence was on our water solutions to support the green transition, with several new innovations and a professional programme.

The signing of the memorandum of understanding between the Hungarian Water Partnership (HWP) and the Hungary Helps Agency is one of the highlights of the professional programmes during the Expo.

Hungary Helps is the expression of solidarity between the Hungarian people and the Hungarian government in the world. They help people who face natural or humanitarian disasters, or persecution because of their Christian religion or ethnicity.

Dr Károly Kovács, President of HWP, said: people need help locally, whether it is to address water shortages, to support irrigation water conservation, to clean up wastewater, and polluted water or to make use of rainwater. HWP's professional mission is to help where the problem is with solutions for the Hungarian water industry and to stimulate innovation in the industry," he said at the signing ceremony.

The Hungarian Water Association (HWA) held its annual national conference on the second day of the Expo.

The event was co-organised by the National Directorate General for Water, the National Chamber of Agriculture and the BCSDH, Business Council for Sustainable Development.

The conference with the title of: "Interaction and Interdependence - Municipal and Agricultural Water Management in the Context of Climate Change", and in line with the Planet's focus, explored how water resources and food production security can be maintained simultaneously, how water resources and their demands are evolving in response to climate and human impacts, how the "products" of municipal wastewater treatment can be recycled, what regulatory options are available to implement a circular economy, how to improve resource management and resource use, and to see good examples of national and international practice.
In the framework of Planet, we held several bilateral meetings with international economic operators from India, Morocco, and the UAE.

We also participated in several discussions with universities, vocational high schools, HWP and the HWA’s Mentor Association on training, recruitment, job opportunities for young engineers and the attractiveness of the water profession.

Overall, we closed a very productive and forward-looking week at Hungexpo on Sunday.
