Global water and sanitaton connect

At the invitation of the Hungarian Water Partnership (HWP), 45 high-level water sector leaders, technical directors and policy decision-makers from 15 African countries arrived in Budapest between 24 and 28 February 2026 to learn about Hungary’s internationally recognised water industry technologies and cooperation models.

The exclusive visit—organised in cooperation with the African Water and Sanitation Association (AfWASA)—focused on knowledge sharing, technological collaboration and strategic networking. The programme of professional workshops, factory and site visits, and bilateral meetings also aimed to further strengthen cooperation between Africa and Europe in the water sector.

The event marks a milestone in the history of the Hungarian water industry. Never before has Hungary hosted such a large-scale, high-level and diverse African water sector delegation under the umbrella of a water industry invitation and programme. The presence of leaders from 15 countries clearly demonstrates the exceptional level of trust and interest in Hungarian water sector expertise, innovation and international reputation—representing both a significant recognition and a valuable opportunity for domestic stakeholders.

During the event, we had the opportunity to present the Pureco Group’s drinking water and wastewater treatment solutions, recognised by the United Nations, and already successfully applied and operated in Hungary as well as internationally in Africa, Europe and Asia.
We expect that this visit will lay the foundation for long-term regional cooperation, joint projects and partnerships that will deliver tangible benefits for local service providers and communities.

The organisers emphasised that the visit forms part of a broader initiative aimed at strengthening international cooperation in the water sector and accelerating the deployment of sustainable, efficient and resilient water infrastructure development solutions across Africa. This is an effort the Pureco Group fully supports.
