The Hungarian Water Partnership (HWP) successfully presented its expertise at the International Congress & Exhibition of the African Water and Sanitation Association (AfWASA) in Kampala, Uganda. As the most significant water event on the African continent, the congress provided a key platform for international collaboration. Pureco also participated.
Led by its President, HWP’s seven-member delegation included senior experts from five member companies.
HWP representatives delivered presentations addressing the integration of water and climate objectives, banking and financing strategies for water infrastructure development, regulatory frameworks, and the advancement of applicable water technologies, in particular, drinking water and wastewater treatment solutions that are certified by the UN to accelerate the achievement of SDG6.
In addition, HWP organized a dedicated session on sustainable yet bankable water development solutions, attended by Uganda’s Minister of Water Resources, the Presidents of the Uganda Chamber of Commerce, the International Water Association (IWA), and CEO of AfWASA. Their involvement underscored the importance of international cooperation in tackling Africa’s water management challenges while ensuring economic feasibility.
Before the event, Dr Károly Kovács had participated in the AfWASA General Assembly and as a member of the AfWASA Strategic Council, he played an active role in its successful implementation.
The participants of the delegation held separate discussions with high-level representatives of the administration, economic operators and financing institutions of Uganda and several other countries on projects underway and their preparation in the different countries.
Dr Károly Kovács, as President of the Africa Section of the Hungarian Chamber of Commerce and Industry, held fruitful discussions with the President of the Uganda Chamber of Commerce on strengthening trade relations and developing links between companies open to each other's markets.
HWP extends its gratitude to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade, HEPA, and the Kampala Office of the Embassy for their support in making this event a success.
