Our CEO as a guest in Blue Planet podcast

The guest of the weekly podcast of President Mr. János Áder was Mr. Bálint Horváth, the CEO of Pureco this week. They discussed the most actual activities of Hungarian water management companies at home and abroad and the risk of water overuse and possible solution for that. 90 percent of wastewater is dumped uncleaned into natural waters in Africa said Mr. Áder, which is an “enormous strain”. Water resources are also overused that will probably lead to a water crisis in a few decades, he noted. Mr. Horváth noted that Pureco completed the construction of the wastewater treatment plant in Kumasi (Ghana), the first wastewater purifying system in Ghana in May 2021. A unique solution for the treatment of the city's untreated wastewater was designed and built under the name, Septopure technology. This project is a significant milestone for both the Hungarian and Ghanaian sides, as this is the country's first water industry development using Hungarian technology. The treated wastewater is led back into natural waters without posing infection risks, he said. Experts of the Danube Regional Waterworks are currently training local professionals in operating the system, he said. Áder noted that Budapest is organising the Planet Budapest 2021 sustainability expo, an extended version of the summits, between November 29 and December 5. The event is expected to draw more than 160 exhibitors from the Visegrad Group countries, he said.
